Week 7: And It's Anyone's Game

Week 7 has made the playoff race extremely interesting.  First and seventh place are now only separated by 1 game...and 130 points.   It also brought Ed's squad back to the promised land, by which of course I mean the bottom four in the standings.  Meanwhile, bye week hell continues to get worse for just about everyone.  The injuries continue to pile up, and the waiver wire is getting weaker by the minute.  Here's the recap of the match-up action:

Kum over Russ (111.48-96.78)

The Rodgers to Jennings connection worked again this week for the Kummish.  They combined to score nearly half of his points, and once you added in the Colston scores Russ didn't really stand a chance while starting only one QB.  I have two fears that come from this match-up:  1) Russ may be reverting back to his non-checking ways, and more importantly: 2)  The powerhouse that took the league by storm the first few weeks may be back as Hillis and Blount will filter back into his lineup over the next few weeks.

Danny over Tom (98.96-78.66)

Tom almost made the mistake of the year when he benched Plax this past weekend after starting him all season long.  Fortunately for his sanity, his team is still bad enough that starting him still wouldn't have beat Danny this week.  Cam Newton and Adrian Peterson may just be enough most weeks, but with Stafford and Beanie Wells possibly missing some time in the next week or two, Danny's team depth may very well be tested.  He moves into 2nd place with this victory, while Tom sinks back to the bottom.

Neil over Joe (117.84-93.88)

It may seem like an upset on the surface, but the result wasn't that unlikely.  Neil's team has consistently been putting up numbers, but has run into a lot of tough luck losses.  Joe on the other hand had been facing some easy weeks, and it catches up to him a bit here.  The loss finally knocks Joe out of first, but look for him to still compete.  Meanwhile, Neil needs to hope McFadden comes back after his bye.  I really doubt DeMarco Murry will be putting up many more 250 yard weeks.

Rich over Adam (130.88-91.16)

I would've assumed that Rich would have an off week while Brady was on bye.  Apparently not.  Adam finds himself on the wrong end of the highest scoring match-up of the week.  Then again, when Darren Sproles drops 22.70 on you that's going to be the case.  The loss drops Adam down to 7th, while Rich sits in 4th place.  Adam has another rough week ahead of him in Week 8, as Matt Ryan and therefore Roddy White will be on bye.

Frank over Nulty (105.86-90.50)

115 rush yards, 2 rush TDs, 119 recieving yards and 1 rec TD.  That's how Arian Foster's week went.  He dropped a 40.50 pt performance on Nulty this week, and Frank won his first game in a while.  Some would say due to this i should be regretting the trade I made with him, but this trade continues to work well for me.  I hope Frank continues to beat all of the teams in front of me using Foster.  It did help of course that my Jets held down Phillip Rivers and co. this week.  That limited Nulty's team to just over 90 points.  It's nothing personal, but if you're ahead of me in the standings I want you to go down hard.  Its just fantasy nature.

Dan (Me) over Ed (92.18-42.24)

I'm in a tough spot writing this match-up summary.  If i write it too hard in my favor it just looks like I'm bragging, but if I talk about how bad Ed's team was this week as they were all on bye, it looks like I'm saying I shouldn't have won.  For that reason, I've decided to attack one part of our match-up that neither one of us had planned on.  Kyle Boller and Carson Palmer.  Two QBs, one team, 3 interceptions apiece.  I wonder if this will ever happen in fantasy again.  Anyway, I'll take the win, and I'll gladly take my starters back for next week against Russ.  If the playoffs started right now I'd have that 6th spot by less than half a point.

With the league so condensed right now, I think soon it will accordion back out and separate, giving it just enough time to contract back in upon itself as we near the playoffs.  We are more than halfway through the fantasy regular season boys.  Time to put the pedal to the metal and drive your team into the playoffs.  May injuries take all your teams down!
