About 15 minutes later I stared astonishingly at the 14-0 game that Aaron Rodgers had single handedly created in favor of the Packers. It looked as if the Saints Defense wasn't even trying out there. I soon realized what we are dealing with this season with the packers offense. Like the 2007 Patriots, we may be looking at an absolute offensive juggernaut.
It's not so much that they have the best receivers, but after Greg Jennings (who was one of my picks to really go off this year), but they have a number of secondary receivers that are probably number 2's in most offenses. It's kind of like what the Saints have done with the one difference being that with Jennings the Packers have a true number 1.
While I was watching the Packers just roll through my Saints D into the second quarter, I wondered why I had picked the Saints as my team defense. A Darren Sproles punt return TD reminded me. The Saints D/ST is really what they are in this league, and so that TD saved me from going into Sunday with negative points.
I also mentioned that I had taken the Saints +4 for last night's contest. I would just like to point out one thing: If your Super Bowl winning QB has thrown for over 400 yards including what was so far a one minute 79 yd drive, and you sit at the 1 with a second left...draw up a passing play for that! Handing it off to Mark Ingram (who had been stopped all day in _ and 1 situations) was the most disappointing moment of the night for me. I have my fingers crossed hoping this will be the most heartbreaking loss of the week for me.
Other notes from Thursday:
- Danny frustratingly watched Ryan Grant stink and stop getting the ball midway through the 2nd quarter, when McCarthy decided to go with Starks
- Ed broke out the computer for a Thursday night game to go on Stattracker...probably could've waited until Sunday for this
- Russel may have made the first overreaction pick up this year with Randall Cobb (watch as I eat these words in the coming weeks)
- We finally got the surround sound working, during the post-game show. The positive being it's geared up and ready for Sunday!
