The Pending Trade

First off, I would like to apologize for the shitty weekend recap I did.  I was pretty buzzed and very tired while I forced that turd of a post out.  I like to set my standards higher than that.  Moving on, I would like to introduce you all to the first Trade Breakdown that this blog will do.

The trade is between Danny and John, and is as follows:

Danny receives:  Cam Newton and Roy Helu
John receives:  Matt Cassel and Ryan Grant

This trade on the surface would seem to be an overreaction to the games that Newton, Cassel, and Grant had by Danny. Matt Cassel will likely be the better QB for the rest of the season, and Ryan Grant should get his points in Green Bay.

Although he gets (probably) the worst of the deal right away, Danny does receive a couple of good keepers.  Cam Newton was a 7th round pick, so if he puts together and entire season of stats like he had in Week 1, he could be an absolute steal next year in the 5th round of the draft.  Helu is lesser known, but is the 2nd string RB in Washington.  If something were to happen to Tim Hightower, who has been injury prone in the past, he would also get a starting RB this year.  Helu can be kept for a 7th round pick next season.

John, on the other hand, gets Matt Cassel as his 3rd QB behind the great combo of Rivers and Romo.  The one miscalculation he may have made is that Rivers and Cassel's bye weeks match, meaning he will only really be able to start Cassel for one game this year if both of his starters remain healthy.  Grant will likely be inserted into John's starting lineup, as he seems to be a better option weekly to Austin Collie and Ryan Matthews at the flex.

All in all, it looks like a pretty even trade for both sides.  Only the rest of the season will determine who got the better of the deal.

  1. Very nice recap, my friend. Not as much as of a miscalculation, as it is a risk. I do have a Shitty Luke/Rookie Blaine as a 4th QB just in case. But my whole week was messed up on that bye for multiple positions, not just the QB spot. Also, even though I downgrade in the QB position, Grant will hopefully compensate for my loss in the trade... Very nice though. Keep the blogs coming.
