Match-Up of the Week
Danny vs the Kummish
Kummish defeats Danny 170.74 to 144.74
This wasn't the closest match-up this week, but it was the craziest to follow on Sunday and into Monday. Kum set the single week record in points, and while Danny posted the third best total this week, he still ends up with the loss.
The QB battle went to Danny this week, as his combo of Stafford and his newly acquired Cam Newton put up a total of 56.44, with Kum's Rodgers-Campbell combination only throwing up 47.84. The RBs did very well for both sides too, with Kum having the 57.9 to 45.4 advantage. What decided the match-up was really the WR position. Danny was only able to muster up 7.1 points between Hakeem Nicks and Mike Williams, the latter of which had -.4 points. Stevie Johnson and Greg Jennings combined to give Kum 27.1 points, and helped lead him into first place going into Week 3.Joe defeats Frank 115.32 to 92.42
Joe's team will move into Week 3 as the only other undefeated team. He made a solid pickup in Nate Burleson this past week, who ended up with 93 yards receiving in his flex. It would have been an even bigger pickup if Joe had really needed him. With timing on his side, Joe faced Frank in a week where Jamaal Charles made it to his second rush before tearing his ACL, putting him out for the rest of the game, and now the year. He also lucked out a bit with Vick being knocked out of Sunday night's game with the mildest of concussions. NFL rules do not allow players to re-enter if they have suffered a concussion, and so a full quarter of Vick production was missed, giving Joe an easier victory.
Dan defeats Neil 149.06 to 106.56
I'll try to keep this relatively short. Ryan Fitzpatrick over-performed for a second week for me, and so did all of my WR. Miles Austin had 143 yds and 3 TDs and Larry Fitz had 133 and 1. I wish I had started Maclin, who would've helped me beat Kums score for the week, but it didn't matter. Neil's team did as expected, a the projected score for him was only .42 off of his total for the week. I'm just happy I was able to survive Brees and McFadden, who combined for 47.3 points.
Nulty defeats Rich 132.12 to 117.96
Facing Tom Brady is scary in real life, but is a luxury when you are talking about fantasy QBs and WRs. Although Brady earned rich 29.22 points this week, he also made the Chargers play from behind all game. Nulty's duo of Rivers and V Jax netted him 49.52 points, and even without his team's namesake (Dez Bryant) he was able to take down Rich. The Eagles D really let Rich down last week, as the preseason's number 1 ranked D only scored 4 on Sunday night, giving up 35 points to the Falcons.
Adam defeats Thom 130.24 to 80.6
This was the most lopsided match-up of the weekend. I hope for Thom's sake that he celebrated while he could after making his trade with Ed, because it sure looks like he's in store for a long season. Thom's WRs combined for a league low 0 points this week, but that will happen sometimes when you start an inactive player. Adam had his big games this week from Matt Ryan and Fred Jackson, although it looks like he may have won in the kicker department in the year's draft. Adam Vinatieri will have plenty of opportunities for the Colts this year as they've been struggling to move the ball at all without Peyton under center.
Ed defeats Russ 122.46 to 110.72
This week, more than I think I've seen before in fantasy football, points were at a premium. Both Ed's team and head shone this weekend as his was able to beat Russ' kicker-less team. After promises of checking his team, Russ left Nate Kaeding in at kicker this week despite having been placed on the IR after Week 1. LeSean McCoy, Alex Smith, and Willis McGahee (yes, those last two do belong there) led Ed to victory despite Antonio Gates being shut out. While it could be a battle for the bottom this year between these two squads, Ed gets the first laugh.
